"That uppity bitch can help you," he pointed out quietly as the nurse left.
Her scowl almost made him smile. The contours of her face, warped and pulled into a frowning face was actually quite cute, if taken out of context. The gravity of the situation, however, and the bruises that masked what he remembered as smooth, delicate skin decidedly chilled his amusement.
"You know..." Xaver folded his broad arms across his chest and arched a brow in Ginny's direction, his mouth pursing thoughtfully. "I suppose I won't take you flying, after all. I was thinking I might invite you, but without a cast... Well, I wouldn't want to hurt your stubborn self."
The glint in his eye was teasing as he stepped toward her, his handsome head slightly tilted and the plush of his mouth fighting a small smile. His tones were quiet, teasing yet patient, and his steps were slow. Deliberate, but contained. She seemed much like a wounded wild animal, this pretty red-head... and it was a situation Xaver could very much relate to. Reaching out to her, he tucked a stray lock of red hair behind her ear.
"Always your choice, of course."

"I suppose I won't take you flying, after all. I was thinking I might invite you, but without a cast... Well, I wouldn't want to hurt your stubborn self."
She felt like a deflated balloon. A cast meant she wouldn't be able to work for weeks. She was bait, that was her job. No one wanted a girl with a big clunky cast one. But flying with Xaver just sounded like too much fun.
He tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and she looked up at him, the scowl turning into a soft frown.
"Always your choice, of course."
He was wrong. She wanted to go flying, she wanted to go out. But she had no choice. No work meant no money, no food. She couldn't afford six weeks of no income.
"Stupid."
She muttered, sounding much like a small child confronted with something they don't want to hear.

"Stupid."
Xaver let out a low chuckle. It rumbled through his chest like a lion's growl, and came out like heated honey.
"You are incorrigible, dear crazy lady." A smile tilting one side of his mouth, he shook his head and gave a sigh. Meeting her eyes, he shook his head once more. "What could I do to prod you to accept? Besides my being very good company while you heal, of course. I'm a great bedmate." Xaver gave a boyish grin, tipping his head to the side and batting his eyelashes innocently at her. Trying to muster a smile to her pretty face.
He would find out what had happened to her, eventually. He was certain of this. When she felt better, he would be at the heels of the issue until he knew. When she felt better. Now, was time for healing. Perhaps when she was asleep he would begin slitting throats.

"I'm a great bedmate."
"I bet you are." Ginny gave him a small smile and a slight laugh. It crossed her mind if she would bet income for 6 weeks just to see if he was.
She shook her head, "I can't. I'd lose too much money."
Ginny frowned, she knew Xaver wasn't fond of her job as a thief, as part of a group that targeted all peoples but mostly nons. She just didn't know how to get away from it. She had no other skills, and Larus would never let her go.

"Mmm but that's the deal."
Xaver gave a small smile, though it faded as he nodded to concede her point. He was a wealthy man, himself. He had been alive for a long time, and in St.Luthor for longer than he'd want to admit - it had added up. He would have handed her a fortune at a simple request. Though, perhaps it was her willingness to do things her own way and without help that made him want to help her in the first place.
Xaver liked Ginny - as a human, as a woman, and perhaps as a friend. He admittedly enjoyed her presence and company, and was finding her in his thoughts more often than he had ever expected. She was strange, and full of life.
"I shall sit on you as eloquently as I can if need be. Or, perhaps offering you a temporary job will work better?"

Ginny looked up at him, blinking. A job?
"What kind of job?"
She wasn't sure what she was capable of. Her skills all pertained to theiving and contributing the the act of such. She couldn't do anything else.
Ginny didn't want to admit it, but she was intrigued by Xaver and his want to help her. They hardly knew each other, and though they were obviously physically attracted to each other, she wondered what else kept pulling them together.

"The kind you can do with a cast."
Xaver gave her a wink, a small smile tilting his mouth even as his hands slipped into his pockets and he rocked back onto his heels.
"I own a few ..businesses. Perhaps you can help me out in the office for a little while until you get on your feet."
(BAH short! sorriesss :/ )

Ginny pulled a face, "I don't know how-"
The doctor came in then, a youngish guy. A new nurse followed him in. He smiled at the two. "Hello there. So, Mrs. I understand you don't want a cast, but I must impress upon you the importance of such. you don't want your arm to heal the wrong ay, do you?"
Ginny just stared at him for a minute, blinking. Now she wasn't sure. Working for Xaver would solve the problem of money.

Ginny was tight with money. Xaver knew that. He wasn't stupid, nor was he ignorant or oblivious. From what he knew of her situation with Larus, which given wasn't much, Ginny was.... stuck.
She wouldn't take his money, which he respected... but he wanted to help her.
"Trust me," he murmured to her over the doctor.
Xaver gave a slight shrug of one shoulder, and offered her a smile. He knew she didn't have much reason to put much faith into him. He just hoped she would.
"Besides, if this guy hurts you I'll be right here to thump him on the head." He eyed the strange smelling physician, noting antiseptic and asparagus on the man.

Ginny giggled softly while the doctor gave a slightly frightened look at Xaver. She sighed, "Cast it, I guess."
The doctor lost his look of fright and nodded, glad his patient wasn't as rowdy as the nurse had said she was.
In a mere matter of minutes he had set her arms and was wrapping the wet plaster around it. Ginny was silent while he did his work, mostly because they had handed her some pain medication just before beginning. She watched with a bored expression while the wet plaster wrapped around her arm and she sighed. She really hoped Xaver was serious about a temporary job.
She looked up at him as the doctor finished and gave him a small smile.

It amused Xaver when people such as the doctor acted nervous around him. It was to his benefit, he supposed.
Xaver caught Ginny's small smile and returned it, passing her a wink over the doctor's shoulder. Warmth in his belly at the expression relaxed him slightly, though the haunt of the hospital still had him on edge. He moved to the table beside her, resting a hip on the table, his gaze followed the man's hands as intensely as he'd been watching since the guy had first touched Ginny. As the physician finished up, Xaver looked to her.
"Any better?"

"Yeah, but I think that's due to that pill they gave me."
She looked to the doctor, "Any chance I can have one of those to take at bedtime?"
The doctor smiled and wrote out a prescription before bidding the two a nice day. Ginny held onto the prescription paper, reading it for what seemed like a long time. The doctor had given her enough for a few days and she was grateful for that. But she wanted out of the hospital now.
She didn't want to go home. When she had left, Larus had been sitting on her couch, watching TV and smoking. He hadn't been overly concerned about her arm, apparently.

Xaver nodded his head in a formal goodbye, but gave little more in the way of attention toward the hospital staff. It wasn't so much that he didn't appreciate what they had done for Ginny, but was far too offset by the atmosphere of the hospital to give much concern. As a Fallen, he healed rapidly. He would have to be pretty bad off to be in a hospital for his own injuries, and in his history he hadn't gone often for that, either. They put him on edge. Beyond the bland colors, lack of security, and abundance of psychos within the walls of one building, Xaver had been accosted by cold wrath and unseen agony that was almost knee-buckling from the time he'd entered.
Xaver fidgeted. Wiggling the fingers tucked into his pocket to stop the habit in the first place and shifting his weight side to side, he was becoming more obviously disturbed the longer they remained inside.
"If you are ready, I would help you to wherever it is you want," he said at her side, gently suggesting they go. His tones weren't impatient, only revealing an unnamed discomfort.

Xaver said he would help her go wherever she needed to, but she didn't know where to go. Not home, not right now. She slid off the table, tucking the prescription into her pocket for later.
"C'mon." She motioned, noting his obvious discomfort. She led him back the way they had come, exiting the hospital quickly. Once outside, however, she was unsure of which way to turn, and she didn't hide this well.
She knew she just needed to wait until morning and Larus would be gone, off to do damage somewhere else. He didn't have a long attention span.

"C'mon."
Xaver wasn't about to argue. He was the first to exit the building. When the sliding doors opened he opened his mouth to breath in deeply, sucking in the fresh air with appreciative groan. She paused outside the hospital and suddenly looked unsure. Breathing out, Xaver dropped his hands into the deep pockets of his coat.
"No thoughts?"
He tilted his head, eying her. The light relayed what the confines of the hospital had managed to hide. The bruises were more obvious than ever before, and Xaver had to stifle the quickly growing rage in his chest.
"If you were to tell me what happened to your beautiful face, I might be inclined to buy you dinner, dessert, and introduce you to what the office looks like after-hours."
He winked.
