"Hmm. We're all on the hunt, aren't we?"
Lukas breathed in her delicate, feminine scent and found that he could not disagree. His eyes flickered unabashedly from the deep 'V' of the front of her dress to her fluttering eyelashes, and he murmured approval in a low, deep hum.
Small hands were suddenly pressing against the firm contours of his chest, and Luke gave a wolfish smile.
"Indeed, we are," he said quietly. "I have been, yes. But not for money, my lady.." Luke brought his hands to his chest, covering hers, bringing one to his lips. He swept his mouth across the back of her hand in a feather-light kiss, passing a wink to her over her knuckles. "Nor for love."

She smiled, somewhat to herself. This man's reaction was almost exactly what she had expected it to be, which pleased her. Samantha liked being right. She liked it a lot. A small shiver passed over her when he kissed her hands. It had been a long time since she had any sort of physical contact that didn't involve pain, and her body wanted to react accordingly. She forced her heself to remain still, though.
-Can't afford to lose this lead, hun. Get it together.-
"I had a feeling. Of course, I'm sure you've had countless others recently," she replied, her tone slightly sarcastic. Sam tilted her head up slightly, her lips a breath away from Lukas's. Blond curls tumbled over her shoulders and into her eyes. "You know, I don't think we're looking for the same things here."

Luke's grin never wavered at her sarcasm, his senses completely aware of just how close she was to him.
"You know, I don't think we're looking for the same things here."
A low, dark chuckle rumbled within the confines of his chest, leaving his lips in almost a whisper. Of course they weren't looking for the same things. They weren't looking in the same galaxies, as far as Luke was concerned. She was looking for another man - for money, she claimed - he somehow sensed this not to be true, but found he didn't much care anyway. He was a wolf. It was only obvious what a lone wolf would be looking for in a club on a night with a near moon.
"Does it matter? If you're in such a hurry then most definitely be on your way, but if not.." Luke's grin was all wolfish deviousness. "Perhaps I might buy you a drink?"

Mentally, the rational part of Sam frowned. The other, not-so-rational part wanted to agree with him right away. Hell, it had been forever since she had even been remotely near a guy like this. She wanted him, and she knew it. It was sort of pathetic.
But seriously, it was just a drink. Even just by standing there, she could feel the weight of her gun in her purse and the coarse material of her sheaths rubbing against her legs. Even the chain looped around her neck was silver, the cross charm tucked below the fabric of her dress. If she needed to, she would be able to protect herself.
And it was just a drink....
"I suppose a drink is okay," she answered with a sigh. "And I'm not really in a hurry..."

Her answer surprised him slightly, though he wasn't quite sure as to why. He released her hands with a small smile, and nodded toward the bar. His hair still finger-tousled and the feel of a lover's lips still present on his chest, he laughed softly as he slowly made through the crowd to the bar nestled at the underbelly of the glass staircase that ran upward to the private rooms he had none too long ago returned from. It was beyond crowded in Heaven, though as the moon neared he could understand why. He wasn't the only bachelor in St. Luthor that was horny as hell and happy to mingle with single beauties.
He turned his head back to the blond as he leaned up against the glass counter.
"So how long have you known Edvon, Miss..." He tilted his handsome head, a small smile donning his lips as the bartender slid two beers toward him. "I don't know your name, come to think of it. Forgive my manners. My name is Devon."
Sure it wasn't his real name, but it was none of her business, either.

She slid up to the counter next to him, flipping her hair over her shoulder with a feminine toss of her head. Almost absently she ran wet her lips, scanning the counter. Her eyes were averted when the were spoke to her.
"Kimberly," Sam answered with a small grin, choosing to ignore his first question. "But please, call me Kim." Her eyes went to the bartender then and she tilted her head to the side. "I'd like a Pink Daiquiri, please," she asked sweetly.
Adjusting her skirt, Samantha turned towards Devon. "Devon, huh? Funny, I pegged you more for a... Luke or Daniel or something."

Her scent greeted him before her pretty body joined him at the bar and Luke let a grin dash across his lips, bearing white, even teeth. Kimberly, she said her name was. Funny, it sounded as real as Devon. The bartender regarded her remark and nodded at her, beginning to fix her a drink but leaving the beers, knowing Luke would finish them off in the meanwhile. Luke snagged them in true boyish character, popping the lid off one with an absent flick of a thumb though it wasn't a screw on, and leaving the other close on the counter. He took a pull of the wheat-tasting, delicious brew, eying the pretty blond over the bronze of his bottle. He set it at the counter as the bartender left her drink near his unopened one. Her fruity, girl drink. Blegh. Luke was a beer man.
"Devon, huh? Funny, I pegged you more for a... Luke or Daniel or something."
Luke swallowed awkwardly, then found himself giving his first honest, humor-filled smile of the evening.
"Funny, you don't seem much like a Kimberly."
She'd sniffed that one out. How, he didn't know - he thought he'd had his poker face on squarely. Ah, well. She didn't smell anything more than human, but who knew. Anyway, it would make for at least an interesting night.

The Daiquiri was placed in front of her and she eyed it warily. Pink. She could imagine the faint strawberry scent that would come from it, but there was no way she could smell it in this place. Idly Sam wondered if the were did, or if he didn't care enough to smell it. Things like that made her curious--how much could the nons sense, exactly? What did it feel like to know so much from smells and sounds?
"Funny, you don't seem much like a Kimberly."
Sam automatically flashed a dazzling smile as she picked up her drink. "Doesn't really fit me does it? Aweful unfortunate." She took a sip of the pink liquid and set it down again quickly. Tonight was not a night she intended to get drunk.
"So, what makes me lucky enough to deserve a drink from a handsome man like yourself?"

No, her name didn't fit her. He wondered her real name, even as he chastised himself for doing so. Luke's chocolate gaze followed the path of the liquid as she lifted her glass, pausing on the lushness of her lips as she sipped, and the soft swell of her throat as she swallowed. Her skin looked smooth.. touchable...
Blinking, Luke looked up at her when she spoke, setting her glass down. "So, what makes me lucky enough to deserve a drink from a handsome man like yourself?" He picked up his beer and finished it, setting the empty bottle on the counter, leaning a firm hip into the side of it while popping the top off his next drink.
"Maybe I'm just feeling generous. Doubtful anyone else in here tonight would." His small, devious grin took the weight off his words and foretold only his acknowledgment of her attractiveness. A joking huff of a chuckle spilled from his lips in low, quieted tones, and Luke shook his head slightly.
"Maybe I'm more interested in why a pretty lady such as yourself is looking for money from a tyrant like Edvon. You're smarter than that, I would wager. Yet, here we are." Luke arched a dark brow, his warm gaze not so much patronizing as inquisitive.

"I didn't think my level of intelligence would be much of your concern," she replied, suddenly feeling irritated. What was she doing here, anyway? Following a dry lead, drinking with a non. Flirting nonetheless.
-What the hell have you gotten yourself into?-
Sam sighed softly and ran her fingers through her wavy golden hair. All at once she felt tired. Her cases were going nowhere, and nothing new had shown up recently. In need of something to do, she was chasing Edvon endlessly, bored. This was risky and stupid. Investigating without a real need led to more suspicious people. Suspicious nons. That was the last thing she needed.
"Besides, who's to say I'm really looking for money. Maybe I'm just some ignorant blond hoping to get a few favors by knowing some names." She rested her elbow on the bar, chin in hand, and looked up at the were. Flickering lights in the noisy room made her eyes appear a flat grey, all of the color sucked out of them.
"You don't even know my real name," she whispered breathily.
