David smiled, "No. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of hot chocolate." He gave her a slight shrug, following her to her car with a smile and easy demeanor. He was a relaxed guy but he noticed she was still a little stiff. Oh well, he thought to himself, she'll get over it.
They arrived at her car and he waited for her to unlock it.

Sam grinned at David as she dug her keys out of her pocket. Pushing a little button on they keypad, a black sports car beeped softly and unlocked. Samantha nodded towards the car.
"Hope you like fast cars," she smiled mischieviously again before getting in.
The interior of the vehicle was covered in bloodred leather, and the dash was a shimmery silver.
"Uhm, I have a job that pays well." Sam said after a moment. She quickly started the car and pulled onto the highway. "And I have to drive a lot." She hadn`t ever had someone in this car before that wasn`t a fellow assassin. It made her a little weary.
The tension had left her back and shoulders. She felt safer in the car; there were two hidden guns easily within reach, plus she had sprayed some perfume recently, so the scent of gunpoweder wouldn`t be easy to smell for him. She had nothing to worry about.

David could smell the perfume, and the underlying scent he recognized as that which hung on hunters, but he wasn't worried. He settled back into the seat flashing her a grin.
"Love fast cars. Not much use for them in the city, but if you get out often I bet it's awesome."
He was truley in awe of the car. He was a guy, and a guy who had been raised in a wealthy family. Nice cars were appreciated, fast cars were loved.
He noticed she was slowly relaxing around him and he smiled inwardly to himself. Maybe he wasn't as good at attracting the girls as Luke was, but he sure could weasel a pretty girl to hang out with him.

Sam smiled again, glancing at the were before looking back at the road.
"I hate slow cars. They might be nice or antiques, but I really don`t care. I`d take this or a better one any day." The smile was still in place on her face. She hadn`t really liked cars at all until the government had picked her up. After that she had seen her car more than any living thing.
"You know, I have nothing against alcohol, but this place`s hot chocolate really is the best. They make it from scratch-- not the kind that comes from a packet." She pulled into a parking lot next to a small brick building. There was a sign in front of the business said "Larry`s Cafe" in large red letter.
"And we`re here." Samantha turned the car off and got out, making sure to grab her purse from the backseat. She paused and waited for David to come around the car then started towards the door.
Inside, she knew, were about twelve little round tables and four or so tall half-booths along the right wall. Her favorite place to sit was up in the window seat, though, which was a booth slightly higher up than the others. It was placed right in front of one of the huge front windows and looked out at the rest of the cafe. The black, brick, and steel decorations made it seem more like a bar, but during the day it had that lighter cafe-feeling. It was an amazing little place.

David followed her into the cozy little cafe, smiling cynically at himself. He'd passed this place a million times and never had the initiative to stop by and check it out. The inside of the cafe seemed more like the bars Dave liked to hang out in when it came close to the full moon.
"I guess I can try the hot chocolate," he said, following Sam to a table. He flashed her a quick smile, amazed at hoe=w easily he got along with this stranger. She was pretty, and yes, David was a wolf, therefore having almost automatic mojo with girls, but she felt almost like someone he'd hung out with before.

-This is different,- Sam thought to herself. When was the last time she had been out with someone to do something as trivial as have hot chocolate? She couldn`t even remember. All of her recent outings had ended in someone getting killed.
"Two hot chocolates for here," she said to the older woman behind the counter, pulling her wallet out of her big coat and getting out two fives. She inhaled deeply and sighed while she waited for her change; the air was thick with the smell of melting chocolate. "Why don`t we go sit over here? This is my favorite table," Samantha grinned and moved towards her spot by the window.
"I can`t wait for spring to come." Everything outside was off-white or grey, and nothing looked too clean. Sam was sick of the cold weather, ice, snow. For once, though, the weather or her job wasn`t the first thing on her mind.
Leaning forward she rested her elbows on the table, lacing her fingers together and resting her chin on them. David was attractive enough, like most immortals. He seemed nice, too...

Spring. David couldn't help but smile at that. He had to agree that this time of Winter, just before Spring, was always the worst. It was grey and dark and cold, and useless. The snow wasn't even much fun to play it.
"I have to say, I agree."
He watched her as she laced up her fingers and rested her chin, finally relaxing for the most part. He couldn't blame her if she wasn't fully relaxed, after all they were strangers. However, he was relieved that she didn't view him as a definite danger. At the least he would like to gain a friend today. At the least..
"Spring is great, except for the mud that seems to follow you everywhere, even in the city." he made a face, he hated tracking mud everywhere.

Samantha smiled a little when he agreed with her. She was beginning to think that she was alone in her dislike of the cold. He was right about the mud, but even mud was better than ice and cold.
"I`d take mud over ice any day. At least it isn`t quite so slippery, and it`s not cold and hard when you fall and land on it." Sam`s ice-colored eyes flickered to the side when she saw a short skinny woman start towards them with a tall mug in each hand. "Ah, here we go. Now, this stuff is real." The woman got to their table and placed the mugs in the middle.
"Two hot chocolates for here," she said with a cheery tone and a nod to Samantha before she turned and left.
Sam pushed one of the cups towards David and grinned at him. "Come on, take a sip and tell me what you think." She grabbed her own mug and took a drink, not waiting. For a moment she couldn`t help but wonder why David was even here. He had found her out in the woods, when and where no normal human would be. He seemed really sweet, but she wished she knew what he was thinking.

David laughed as she eagerly sipped from her mug, obviously enjoying the drink. He tried his own, surprised at the amount of chocolaty goodness. It was a little hot, but well worth the slight burn which took the chill of outdoors away within an instant.
"Very good!" He told her, not even looking up from the mug. It was delicious.
"How did you find out about this place?"

Samantha shrugged, rolling the hot mug between her palms. "When you`re cold and far from the city, you see nice little places like this a lot easier. It`s sort of tucked away out here, but they`re absolutely amazing." She took another carefull sip, looking David over.
"It`s amazing that more people don`t know about this place. Maybe it`s because it`s so close to the woods, and they think there`s a serial killer out there or something," she rolled her eyes and looked out the large window. "I`m glad that I found it. This stuff is addicting."
-Might as well talk about the weather, Sam. Really, how exciting is a cup of coco?-

"I don't think it's a serial killer people are worried about," David said softly. Humans feared the woods because of the nons. Somewhere along the years humans had gotten the idea that all nons were bloodthirsty murderous creatures. Which they weren't.
"People don't like what they can't see." He shrugged.

Sam nodded and looked down at her mug. What David had said was probably the most honest thing in this conversation so far. People didn`t scared of what they couldn`t see, and most refused to change their view of the world.
"It`s ridiculous, honestly. I don`t understand why people can`t just accept things. Hating things won`t change them, just make everything worse. There`s nothing to be worried about if you know how to defend yourself," she replied quickly and quietly, not exactly thinking about what she was saying. She inhaled sharply, not realizing for a second that they were getting extremely close to a dangerous topic.

David frowned slightly.
"This racial discrimination is so strong. So many places won't let you in if you don't belong to their race...I honestly feel like it won't be long until a race war starts up."
He paused for a moment, taking sip of his coca and then looking her in the face.
"The humans are afraid because they can't control the Nons. The Nons are afraid because the humans outnumber them...with so much fear and hate, it gets a little scary out there." He nodded his head toward the closest window, generalizing 'out there' as the entire world.

Sam nodded in agreement, but chewed the inside of her cheek. He spoke of the immortals so freely. On top of the fact that she found him in the woods, it was clear he had to be a were. But she wasn`t sure. He didn`t seem quite so harsh as most of the others she had met.
"It gets a little scary out there."
Samantha couldn`t help but laugh once at this. Hell, she knew what the world could be. She had faced the scariest shit 'out there'.
"No kidding," she said quickly, "All the violence, all the discrimination, it`s ridiculous!" She threw up her hands in exasperation, playing her part perfectly. Ha. Like she could say anything about violence.

His eyes narrowed as he watched her reaction. She looked uncomfortable as she gave the genaric response. As if she were in a play. He held her gaze for a moment, then broke out in a sheepish smile.
"I'm sorry," He said, grinning almost, "I don't know you well enough to be spouting out my personal hang-ups."
David had enhanced sense, an animal response to people and their intentions. He sensed something she was hiding, and many other were's would have outright asked. But he had been raised for the most part as a human, and thus had very human manners. Luke woulda already figured this girl out. David wasn't even sure if he wanted to 'figure' her out. Or if he wanted to get to know her as a person, not as secrets.
"I hope I didn't offend you?"
