The feel of sunlight felt good against her skin, warming her, the air of early morning crisp and refreshing from the confines of her brother’s apartment. Xaver was a good man and a good sibling, just a little over protective at times. After her unceremonious arrival to St. Luthor, well.. He had all but smothered her with hot chocolate and company while she rested up her wounded wings and mentality. It was nice, anyway, to finally get outside and explore a little. No couch, no bullet holes.
Kylie shivered, tucking her hands deeper into the pockets of her jeans. She was dressed quite simply - faded jeans, a loose, glittery black tank, and a small unbuttoned navy sweater that brought out the dark blues of her eyes. Her raven hair was tied back into a loose braid and no makeup adorned her slender features, freshly washed and smelling of the vanilla soap Xav kept in his guest bathroom. The chill of the morning felt good against her face and chilled her nose, the tickle behind her shoulder blades growing to a familiar ache. Glancing upward into the cloudless sky, she smiled slightly. She hadn’t flown since her voyage from Lenity, so it would be good to finally stretch and get the hell off the dirt.
Smiling at a Were that jogged by her on the dirt trail, she ducked off the path and into the foliage, heading toward the pond nestled somewhere beyond the clutter of trees. She was almost to it when she heard a rustling that didn’t come from her own shuffling or any animal in the vicinity. Heart pounding in her chest she squared her shoulders and clenched her fists, big eyes wide and anticipating the worst. She hadn’t had the best of luck with strangers as of late…
