Arianna was quite certain that she should have been frozen by now. Temperatures were hovering around freezing, and her ancient red snow jacket was doing a poor job of keeping her warm. Her ordinary jeans and sneakers weren't improving the situation. She'd been out pounding the pavement all morning, putting in job applications; her meager savings were not going to last much longer. The stress of having to live with such limited funds was beginning to take it's toll. Just thinking about it gave her a headache, and she thought of it often.
A gust of chill wind blew down the street, and she dug her hands deeper into her jacket pockets, shoulders hunched against the cold. She cast her gaze up from where it had been rooted to the sidewalk, surprised to note that she had wandered near a large park. She could tell the park would be beautiful, were it not the dead of winter and covered in a blanket of wretched snow.
Still, she couldn't resist walking through the entryway and into the park proper. It was refreshing to have some breathing room, with no steel and concrete monoliths looming over her. The city had not grown on her just yet. Against her better judgement, the young were chose a park bench and brushed the snow off it, taking a seat. Perhaps a little rest would take her mind off her situation.

David always took the shortcut through the park. Today was no different. As he walked he kicked the snow, amused at the footprints he left behind him.
David was surprised to see someone sitting on a bench. Not just any someone, a girl, and a pretty one at that. But David's nose, even in his human form, was sensitive. He could smell she wasn't human. Defiantly a were or shape shifter. Defiantly feline.
the wolf in him struggling at wanting to chase a cat (though not harm her) forced out a chuckle. He had learned long ago to control such impulses, but boy, that would be fun.
Instead he walked up to the girl, smiling broadly and in a way so as to not creep her out. "Hi."
He looked around, "Kinda cold out here, isn't it?"

Arianna redirected her gaze to the approaching figure, eyes moving over him in a quick assessment. Young, handsome, and, if her nose was correct, a wolf. Interesting. She hadn't had contact with many other weres in her life, and they'd all been friends' of her parents, and thus, felines.
"Hey." she said, the corners of her mouth turning up in a small smile, her expression mildly guarded. He seemed friendly enough; he'd just strode right up to her, after all.
"Kinda cold might be an understatement." she replied, chuckling slightly.

David laughed. She was right, it was actually very cold. Without waiting for an invitation, David cleared off the seat beside her and plopped himself down, slightly turned to face her. He was relaxed, and he hoped that would make her relaxed.
He was sort of a mutt, and mutts were friendly. He meant no harm to the pretty girl sitting beside him, and he hoped she could sense that.
"I'm David." He held out his hand, meeting her eyes with a smile.

Her smile broadened when he laughed. Though she probably wouldn't admit it, she was a social creature. She liked being around people, and living by oneself in a new city was lonely. It was nice to speak with someone amiable.
He sat, and she shifted slightly on the bench, to better face him. She pulled her hand out from her jacket pocket and took his, shaking it firmly. "Nice to meet you. I'm Arianna."
She relaxed; she wasn't getting any negative or aggressive vibes from him.

"Pretty name."
He gave her a smile and winked in a manner to make her laugh.
"Fitting for a pretty girl."
David was usually more subtle, but the full moon was getting closer, and like all Were's, he was feeling the rise in adrenaline and sexual urges. Sitting next to Arianna was enough to push him to flirt openly. That was all he expected from her though.
"What do you say I buy you some coffee, or hot cocoa or something?" Nothing more than some harmless flirting, a way to pass the hours. David would much rather pass the hours with a so-far nice girl than go home to his apartment and wait for someone to find him.

His flirting amused her, in the best possible way. A brow raised, and she chuckled. It'd been some time since she'd been hit on; the faded white lines of old wounds that peppered her upper body tended to make most think twice. Being all bundled up hid these, for the most part. It was the only good her winter clothing seemed to be doing at the moment. Not that she much cared what others thought of the scars. She often forgot she had them, and to see and remember just brought her back to a time she'd rather not dwell on.
She nearly wept at the mention of a warm beverage. "Sounds good to me." she said, suppressing a shiver as another cold breeze sent freezing tendrils through her ancient jacket and along her skin. What could it hurt? He seemed nice enough, and he was rather easy on the eyes. She got to her feet. "Know anywhere nearby?"
