Xaver didn't know her - didn't know anything about her, really, so he supposed it shouldn't have come as a shock that the fiery red head was not going to listen to his 'suggestion'. As she retorted and bent down, Xaver flexed his neck, already assuming that she was going to do something either dangerous or stupid. The knife flung, and as the man began to clutch his neck Xaver sprung.
Always an outwardly composed man with smooth, retained movements, Xaver's aggression was much like an explosion. Weight on his toes, he flew much like a bird, landing amidst the two remaining thugs and gripping their guns. He twisted the metal things upward just as they exploded, then merely ripped them out of their hands. A step back was all that was needed to flip the safety buttons on and toss them backward toward Ginny, where he knew they were at least in better hands. He reached out then with his mind, crashing through their mental barriers like a bullet through china bowls, capturing their minds and bringing them instantly to their knees, screaming. They began scratching at their own heads with fervor, as is there was something eating away at them inside... which he was. He was bending them to his will, making them relive their own versions of hell again and again. Making them hurt. They had scratched trenches into their faces, pleading mercy, by the time he actually killed them. It took a well placed kick in the neck for one, and a jerky twist of the head for the other, both happening quicker than one could see. In the end, Xaver stood over their kneeling bodies with naught on his face, even as they slumped over in unison, forever silenced as their victims that lay about them. The man Ginny had mauled was on the gr0und beside them, writhing in his own pool of blood and making gurgled, nasty last sounds. Xaver gave him a brief glance, before stepping on and over one of their bodies, making toward the door. He didn't look at Ginny, knowing all too well that she would probably have a horrified look on her face, and that she would start screaming.. What was it he always heard? Ah, yes, 'murderer!', 'monster!'... But, she'd killed one, too. That was a first.
Xaver paused, and chanced a look over his shoulder to her.

Ginny caught the guns as he tossed them, training them upon the assailents, though she had no need. Xaver was quickly done with them.
He stepped over and on their bodies, heading for the door and Ginny planned on following. But she wasn't finished. The man laying on the floor was still alive, and possibly only had a few moments of life left. Just as Xaver turned to look back, she flipped the safety off the gun and shot the remaining man in the head, effectively cutting short his last moments.
What was it one of Larus's goonies said?
Oh yeah, always double-tap.
She looked up at Xaver, grabbing some napkins from the nearest table and quickly wiped the gun off. She doubted the remaining live witnesses would identify herself and Xaver to the police, but she wasn't taking chances. She could feel, rather than see, Xaver's confusion.
Ginny tossed the gun and practically ran to him, grabbing his hand and pulling him out of the cafe.
"C'mon. Let's go somewhere a punch of racist pricks won't intrude." She muttered, still holding his hand in hers.

As Xaver turned back, Ginny shot the writhing perp in the head, finishing him. Xaver blinked, watching her quietly as she cleaned off the guns then tossed them, even staring as she came to him and grabbed his hand. He made no sound as he allowed her to pull him from the cafe.
"C'mon. Let's go somewhere a punch of racist pricks won't intrude."
Xaver kept staring, only breaking to shrug his coat more comfortably on his shoulders as the rain began to beat down and to look around, wary of cops.
"You are the strangest woman I've ever known," his low tones murmured, simply and with no hint of judgment. Only curiosity. "I like that." It was true. He was fascinated by her.
Cars raced by as they made down the sidewalk, everybody but them in a hurry to get somewhere as the rain truly began to fall. Tilting his head at her and noticing she had left her coat in the diner, Xaver finally let go of her hand and shrugged out of his long coat, offering it to her.
"Here, little warrior," he said softly. "You'll freeze long before I will."

She accepted the offered coat with a smile. She was freezing, and soaking wet. Her red hair hung in curly strings around her face, darkening with the water and making her face appear more pale.
"Thanks."
Ginny wanted to giggle. His obvious confusion about her was intoxicating, his interest in her left her feeling like she was walking on clouds.
She hadn't been in an altercation like that in months. Her adrenaline was running wild. She glanced around, making sure not to look as if she was looking for anything. The cops would be heading to the cafe within moments.
Making sure they were all dead was important. Only the witness and the staff of the cafe would be able to identify herself and him, and she had a strong suspicion none would.
"Where to?" She asked, looking up at him as they seemed to wander aimlessly, "I only know a few seedy dives." She explained, laughing.

She fitted herself into his coat and Xaver looked back toward the sidewalk ahead of them, though his mind never followed his gaze. She was gorgeous, that was easy enough. Her fire and bravery were what stirred him, making his ancient soul curious for more. "Where to?" She laughed, and Xaver turned his handsome head toward her, dark eyes narrowed slightly in open interest.
"Wherever it is you would like to go in this city. Someplace with a dryer, perhaps?" he said, low tones heavily lilted with his strange accent, pointedly eying her soaked collar beneath his jacket. Xaver wasn't much better off. His shoulders were completely soaked, and the water was making havoc of his long, determinedly messy hair. Hair so black it reflected none of the light of the streetlamps or cars, but simply absorbed it. The rain trickled down his body and stuck to the hard planes of him. His thighs, the slabs of his back and chest - they were all slowly being put on display as his shirt clung to him like a drowning victim in the torrent of rain.
His dark blue gaze never left her. He wondered who she was, this woman he'd never known until the fateful event in that club. Was she even real?

"Um..." She drew out the sound, before bursting into giggles, again. The adrenaline was making her giddy.
"Oh, what the hell. Turn left." She said, knowing how risky her next step was. At this point, she didn't care. Larus hadn't been by her place in months. The last time she'd seen him was when she messed up that last job. It's been a roaring fist fight, with her face black and blue and him walking out of her apartment rubbing the back of his head where she'd hit him with a plate.
She didn't know why she let him walk all over her.
They turned left, right, and went down a serious of roads, heading into an area well known for poor humans. Apartment buildings with reinforced windows and doors were stuck all around.
Ginny had learned many of the poor blamed the nons. But Xaver looked human enough that no one would bother them. They'd assume she was like some other whore, bringing a john back for the night.
They came upon a yellowed building, three stories high. She pulled him inside, letting go of his hand and fishing a key out of her pocket as she began to climb the stairs.
"At least you can dry off here." She told him, glancing backwards.

She burst into giggles, and Xaver nearly found himself laughing, as well. It was a weird situation they were in. Dire and dark and uprooted from a place of innocent chat, there was not much else to do but laugh. A low chuckle rumbled in the confines of his chest, conceding her point, and he shook his head, allowing himself to be led down streets and passageways to somewhere unknown. Outwardly, he more or less sunk into himself, keeping his movements slowed and average to keep attention away. Holding her small hand within his own was enough in itself to keep his mind occupied, anyway, until they breached the walls of a yellow housing building. He drew a breath in through his nose, smelling the decay and structure of the (he found) mostly unoccupied and adeptly safe building. It would do.
When they were alone in the stairwell, she ahead of him fishing for her keys, he allowed his mind to slightly wander.
"At least you can dry off here." She said, looking back at him and breaking the trance his gaze had been holding on her well-shaped ass.
He reached out and grabbed her hand, gently stalling her, and made up the steps to be at the stair she was on. He was a rather large man, and in the small stairway became rather imposing. He crowded her slightly against the wall, though his eyes grew very gentle, curious more than anything. A hand came up, very slowly, and tucked a dripping bunch of dark red hair behind her ear.
"Are you sure you want to invite me in? How do you know I'm not the average creeper waiting for the proper time to kill you, hmm?" His handsome head tilted to the side. "You saw what I just did, yet you will allow me to seek shelter in your home?"

She leaned against the wall, looking into his eyes. She knew she should be afraid, but she wasn't.
"Are you the average creepy waiting for the right time to kill me?"
Ginny raised her eyebrows smiling, "Of course you aren't. Because if you were planning on killing me, you wouldn't have announced it."
She pointed out this logic with a soft laughing voice. Then her face sombered up and she gently placed a hand on his shoulder. His wet clothes showed off his amazing body, and she couldn't help but want to touch him. He was so utterly close in the small hallways. The slight bit of heat that came off their bodies, mixed with the wetness of their clothes was intoxicating. She could smell the rainwater on them both.
"I don't know why, but I trust you. Is that enough?"
So close.

"Are you the average creepy waiting for the right time to kill me?" All Xaver could come up with were stupid answers. For a man his age, he should have been able to come up with something more intelligent than 'Urm, no ma'am ain't gunna kill ya, nope nope.' "Of course you aren't. Because if you were planning on killing me, you wouldn't have announced it."
Xaver blinked at her. She was mostly right. Whenever Xaver was truly incited to kill, there wasn't much warning. But how could she know that? How could someone like her know at all what it was like to be threatened. Why did she know all this? Wasn't she supposed to be innocent and vulnerable? Because she definitely wasn't.
She touched his shoulder with a small hand, and Xaver stilled. He looked down at it with eyes that were not used to such gentility, and up at her, not used to seeing such generosity.
"I don't know why, but I trust you. Is that enough?"
He didn't know why, either. He was scary, inhuman, and closed-off, and she found the decency in him anyway.
Xaver allowed himself a small breath, taking in what he had been trying to avoid all along. She smelled fresh and clean, like a hearty rose dampened by the rain and wrapped in flesh. Her shampoo, her skin.. He swallowed and backed away, just out of her reach.
She was a lovely, potent mix of woman and she was human. 'Get a grip, you stupid bird,' he mentally chastised himself.
"Lead the way, then," he murmured quietly, allowing nothing more out of himself.

He stood there for a moment, obviously thinking over her words, and in that moment she felt a flutter, a feeling she hadn't felt in a long time. Her heart was pounding, she could feel her toes and fingertips pulsing with the beat of the blood.
He stepped back and she took a deep breath, forcing herself to chill, even as her cheeks flammed brightly.
"Lead the way, then." He told her and she nodded, now concentrating on slowing her heart rate.
She led him up one more flight of stairs and to the right, three doors down. The door read 4C. She struggled with the key, finding it a little difficult to turn in her flustered state.
Finally it unlocked, and she pushed open the door, "It's not very nice." She muttered, suddenly embarassed.
It was as one would expect of a small apartment. Obviously worn by the many people who had lived in this set of rooms since the buildings construction, but clean. The hardwood floor had a few area carpets, brightly colored and handpicked by Ginny. The couch was a faded green, and there was a small TV across from it. Against the wall where a window was sat a desk with an old computer and some papers. An open entrance led to a brightly lit but small kitchen. There wasn't room for a table, so the counter seemed to serve as one in times of need. The dishes from that morning still sat in the sink, rinsed and ready to wash.
She stepped in and moved to the side, wondering what she could offer him to wear. She had a few old nightshirts that might fit him, and a pair of shorts that were way too big, she had no clue why she ever bought them.
"Go ahead and sit down if you want. I'll get a towel, and I think I have some clothes that will fit you..."

4C. "It's not very nice." Xaver looked around, his lips tilting slightly skyward. Despite her comment he moved inside, dark eyes looking around without a hint of dislike.
"It smells like you," he said softly, looking back finally at her. "It's a nice place, I like it."
It was hard to get homey out of a small apartment in a scary neighborhood, but Ginny had managed it. The place smelled clean and her scent was everywhere. His guard fell, slightly, when the door closed behind them, allowing him to take in and fully appreciate her little home. Helll, he couldn't even remember the last time he had been invited into someone's home.
"Go ahead and sit down if you want. I'll get a towel, and I think I have some clothes that will fit you..."
Xaver looked at her skeptically. "You? Clothes that will fit me?" He gave a small smile. "Doubtful, little woman. A great big towel will be just fine."

Ginny smiled a little nervously at his mention of only a towel. Briefly, she allowed her mind to go into the gutter, and then snapped back.
"How do you know I don't have a plethora of men's clothing?" She raised an eyebrow, shrugging off his coat and hanging it up. She turned to face him, slightly self conscious of how her wet clothes stuck to her like his stuck to him. She folded her arms over her breasts, and looked at him.
"Really, I think I have a pair of shorts that will fit you. Then I can throw your wet clothes into the dryer."
Without waiting for his approval she wandered back the hallway, stopping at the closet to grab a big fluffy blue towel and toss it at him before heading into her room and digging around in her dresser. She found the shorts, so obviously a mens size, though she had been a little out of it the day she bought them. She took them out into the living room and handed them to him.
"At least try them on."
Again, she turned and went to her room, this time closing the door.

"How do you know I don't have a plethora of men's clothing?"
For the first time, Xaver grinned. It was a wide, bright expression. Truthfully, he didn't know. He didn't know anything about her, though that hadn't stopped anything else that day. She shrugged off his coat, and when she turned to hang it up his gaze moved over her form. Appreciating. Pausing on a few places probably longer than he should have, though he didn't even care at that point if she caught him. She was gorgeous, and it was entirely too hard to look away.
He caught the blue towel she tossed to him, in no mood to put up an argument, and was rubbing the blue fuzzy thing over his head when she came back with the shorts. He accepted them with a nod and a small smile, his gaze following her as she made her way back down the hall, shutting him off as she closed the door.
Xaver looked around the place. Certain that he was alone but having never been introduced to a bathroom, he simply stripped there. Long-sleeved, silken shirt was first, landing with a slap on the hardwood. Then his shoes, socks, and slacks. All fell like the rain that had drawn them to his form, landing in a chaotic pool around him. Finally came his boxers, dropped unceremoniously onto the heap. Completely, and gloriously naked, Xaver stared at the shorts in his hands, stretching them out curiously. Yes, they would fit, she was right. They might even be a little loose. He pulled them on and adjusted them comfortably, low and lazily resting about the swells of his pelvis. His abdomen tight and smooth, the shorts rested across the shallow 'V' his muscles formed just over his ilium. His chest was hairless. Pale, and smooth as marble until his navel, where a black thin trail of hair sprouted and coursed downward. His body was not featureless, however. It was littered with large and marring scars that many of which should have cost him his life.
Xaver rolled his neck, then knelt, collecting his wet clothes..

Alone in her small room Ginny finally allowed herself to breath. She leaned against the door for a moment before starting to strip off her wet clothing.
Her grey overshirt came off easily, followed by her blue tank top and jeans. Her bra and panties came off and she slipped on clean dry ones. She pulled on a pair of her own shorts, light grey and short. She pulled on a black tank top, sweeping her red hair up into a messy ponytail.
She gathered her own wet clothes up into a bundle and headed back out into the living room, catching Xaver doing the same.
"Here, give me those. I'll throw them all in the dryer. I'm lucky enough to have my own one."
She was lucky. this apartment building had been slightly more expensive than the ones close by because a washer and dryer hookup was available in each apartment. But Ginny had been willing to pay that extra bit, creeps liked to steal girls clothing. It freaked her out thinking someone might be wearing her panties out there.

Xaver rose and turned, clothes in his arms. He nudged his shoes to the side with his bare foot, looking for a distraction from her. Even in simple clothes and a ponytail, she was far too pretty for her own good. Handing her the clothes, his gaze traveled to hers.
"Thank you."
He wasn't a man of too many words, but his gestures said it all. His expressions, when not closed off to the world, were full of more personae than one could usually deal with.
"Really." He meant thanks for more than the clothes.
His gaze tore from hers and flickered over the windows, to the door and across its locks, eying and examining them much as a wild animal would its surroundings. Just as suddenly, he moved and plopped on the couch.
"I really like this place. Been here long?"
