"Damn..."
Xaver grinned. Damn, was right. She was warm against his half naked form, and her hands felt startlingly good against his bare flesh. Suddenly she looked up at him, and Xaver met her eyes with his fiery blues, catching the odd tint to her gaze. Uncertainty?
"You might not believe me, but I don't do this very often."
He tilted his head slightly, a smile lifting the corner of his mouth. His eyes looked up at her with the intensity of the sea, though softened at the corners and lit with a passion that had never been.
"I believe you," he said, low tones quiet but perforating the silence around them like a heavy, masculine drum. "I also believe you should do this more often." His grin was devious, concealing the surprise that was running rampant through him. It was more often than not hard for him to express any sort of emotion. To be genuinely happy, even excited, was foreign soil for his marching emotions.
He brought a hand up and ran it through the mess of her brilliant hair, drawing her mouth to his briefly. He closed his eyes after backing away, reveling in the feel of her. She was warm and soft, and she tasted like a high heaven.
"For the record, I don't either." His gaze sought hers, both truth and curiosity intertwined in the depths of his ocean blues. "But there are exceptions to everything.."

"But there are exceptions to everything."
So far, he was right. He was an exception to the usually grimy, sick, and twisted male gender. This day had been an exception to the past 7 years of her life.
Suddenly she started to laugh.
The day had been crazy so far. She'd done something dangerous about ever ten minutes from the time she's walked into that cafe. Meeting him had been dangerous. The goons with guns had been dangerous. Running from the scene had been dangerous. Inviting him to her apartment, her home, had been dangerous. Kissing him was dangerous.
But she'd never felt more at ease, more safe, than she did right now, tangled up with him on her couch, their mouths seeking each others in a strange magnetism.
A buzzer sounded in the background, making Ginny almost jump off his lap, it startled her so. It was only the dryer signaling the end of it's cycle and Ginny laughed again, a startled, shaken laugh.
The clothes were done, but she ignored them for now. She looked back at him, a smile playing on her lips.
"I realize this may be a little late to be thinking this, but, um, I don't know anything about you except your name!" She laughed.

The buzzer rang, loud and upsetting the silence that had enveloped them, and it surprisingly but undeniably startled him. His hands, then having come to rest over her knees, clenched slightly, and his jaw set as his head tilted. His eyes surveyed the hallway, coming to the conclusion that the noise had emanated from the dryer a few more moments after Ginny had.
Her soft laugh brought him back and, his grip softening over her knees and the tops of her thighs, he looked up at her. His dark gaze was thoughtful, the woman above him as interesting and confusing as could be.
"You don't even know my whole name," he pointed out gently, with a low, bemused laugh. He gave her legs a light squeeze. "But is it not better that we know little of each other?"
Xaver tilted his head back, resting it on the couch. It gave him an ample view of her body, so comfortably perched atop his own. Ginny was gorgeous. That much, at least, was very obvious and very simple. It went beyond her looks. Xaver liked her quite a bit for her being human, though he wasn't sure how far that would lead them in the scheme of things.
He scratched his right fingers over the inside of his left wrist, offhandedly over the palm-sized tattoo that he hardly even remembered was there anymore. It was a gorgeous image stained into his skin - a long black feather with a curvy 'X' on each side, seemingly made out of feather strands. Xaver liked it, but it felt more like a brand, than anything. Not commonly caught without his clothes, he hardly remembered it was obvious and less that it would bring questions. The large, angled, excessive pink scar wrapping around his right shoulder and the equally wide, freshly healed scar across the top of his right thigh were enough to occupy his mind. Xaver glanced down at his shoulder, almost wincing at the memory, and the effects of it that were now quite obvious to a stranger.
What was with him? A pretty girl before him, and suddenly he couldn't think? It was unlike Xaver to drop his guard with so little inhibitions. He'd lived a long time thanks to his overly-stressed personal space. That wasn't to say that he didn't go off like a firecracker every now and then, and less that he was in any way celibate, but there was a difference between brief encounters like that and.... Xaver's gaze trailed up to Ginny's eyes... this.
"I suppose there is a little of each of us we could get to know.." he said quietly, over a small, inquisitive smile. "There are a few things I've been wondering about you, anyway."

Ginny watched his hands, she couldn;t help it. When they moved so gracefully, she had to follow them. It's part of the human condition to always watch arch movements.
She looked at his tattoo, wondering at it, and the scars that seems to abound him. She didn't move from his lap, even as he leaned back. She squirmed a little, suddenly aware that he was looking at her.
Really looking at her.
She was always on display, she knew that. With her bright hair, pale skin, and pretty face, she knew she was often looked at. But Xaver was looking, like he was admiring her body and something else.
"There are a few things I've been wondering about you anyway."
He smiled and she found herself smiling back.
"And I you. But maybe we should get a drink for this?" She laughed, "I have whiskey."
She had a feeling she;d want a drink by the end of this day anyway.

Xaver laughed, a low, melodious t0ne that filled the tomb of his chest and rumbled into the world like honeyed masculinity.
"Aye, milady, after a day like we've had perhaps we should share a handle or three."
He winked at her, not having forgotten their morning in the slightest. Upsets like that were commonplace for the Fallen lord, though.. His gaze flickering over hers, Xaver wondered how common they were for Ginny. If she was alright. She seemed it, but one never knew, and he wasn't going to even try to delve into her mind. He'd tried that already, and it was like there was a casing around her brain that prevented entry. In all senses, she was 'mind-blind' to him, and unable to be mentally tampered with. Even to one of his strength. Unfortunately. He would have loved to see what was going on under that beautiful face.
"Whiskey sounds fantastic. You pour, and I'll let you ask first question."

"A bribe, hmm? I like it."
Gracefully she stood, pointing her toes to stretch her legs and lifting her arms above her head. She dropped them and turned from him, heading into the kitchen and grabbing two glasses and filling them with ice. Next she reached in a lower cabinet and pulled out a half bottle of generic whiskey.
She brought the items in, handing him a cup and pouring a nice helping, then sitting and placing her cup between her knees to pour her own. the cup still in her knees, she closed the bottle and set it on the floor. She curled up, facing him with her glass of whiskey in her hand, contemplating her first question.
"Ok, a simple one. What's your full name?"
Ginny thought it best to start simple before she asked the bigger questions. She had a nice list prepared now that she thought about it.

Xaver grinned, gaze unwavering and appreciative as she rose and stretched. His eyes followed her into the kitchen then, to the sounds of her getting glasses and ice he shifted on the couch. He crossed a muscular leg beneath him, pointedly drawing his shorts a little lower over his hips to cover the scar on his thigh. He draped an arm over the back of the couch and settled, more or less, like an eased wolf.
He accepted the glass and the drink, then eyed her at her question. His full name? Xaver was sure less than a handful of people knew his full name in all of St.Luthor, and nearly all of them were in graves.
"My name, huh?" It always seemed a name was more than a name in St.Luthor. To the Fallen, anyway. Eying her, he tilted his glass to his lips and took a long pull. The glass was empty when he lowered his head. "My name is Xaver Aleksander Xian. You, are human."
His grin was devious, but his blue eyes were all testing and wary. Uncommonly, completely honest.
"I, am not."

"Xaver Aleksander Xian..."
Ginny tested his name, her mouth forming the sounds just as her had, although much slower.
"You are human. I am not."
She wrinkled her nose, almost snorting. Well, duh. At this point, she'd pretty much figured that one out on her own. Only a total idiot would have thought he was human after that mornings events.
"I didn't ask that, " She pointed out, taking a nice healthy swig from her glass. She liked the way whiskey burned her throat, the way it make her want to shudder all over.
"So, do I get another one, or is it your turn?"

His eyes followed her mouth as her soft lips formed his name, slowly and deliberately. Finding he rather liked the way his name sounded in her voice, Xaver smiled slightly.
He shrugged a shoulder as she wrinkled her nose, the grin never once leaving his face as he grabbed the bottle of drink and poured himself another full glass.
"So, do I get another one, or is it your turn?"
"My turn, of course," he said after another sip, winking over the glass. The taste was fair to his tongue, the liquid warming his belly. "Would you have passed me on to Larus?"

Ginny thought for a moment. Xaver hadn't been the target that night, and he was more human-like than most nons, so it was unlikely she would have singled him out. He'd been dressed nice, but not over the top, and she didn't recall any jewlery or extravegent accessories, so stealing from him wouldn't hae been worth much.
Plus, he had saved her.
"Maybe. You didn't seem like a good target, I mean, I didn't even notice you."
She smiled, "And when I did notice you, it was because you were saving my ass. So even if I might have before then, I most definitely would not have after you helped me."
She finished the rest of her glass, now her turn to refill. She thought about her next question as she did so.
"Ok, my turn. How did you kill those two guys? You hardly touched them."
She was curious about this, she'd never seen a non who could kill without touching.

Xaver nodded to her answer, his half-lipped smile softening slightly. "Good to know that a risk gets at least a little reward," he murmured quietly, bird-like eyes following her movements as she retrieved the bottle and poured herself some more liquor. He didn't feel the effects yet, though he guessed the amount of shots in the drinks they were downing would catch up with him soon enough. He was an expensive drunk, after all. Fallen, along with other nons, processed alcohol a little better than humans. A little, mind you.
How did you kill those two guys? You hardly touched them."
Xaver looked at her over the rim of his glass, ocean-blue eyes dark and calculating. He took a drink then brought his hand down, resting the glass on the lower part of the scar on his leg that a little shifting had unveiled.
"My... mind." His gaze met hers, but the familiarity within them retracted slightly. "I can use my mind to... how would you say... ..break them. I can penetrate their thoughts. I can make them believe, for the rest of their lives, that they are old, wrinkled women. I can erase them completely. I can control them." He leaned foreword slightly, glass chinking softly against the sides of his glass. "But not you, Ginny." His eyes, suddenly very bird-like, flickered over her face curiously. "Your mind is hidden from me, which is something I have not come across in many a year."

Ginny took a moment to process this new knowledge. She'd been right, there was no one quite like the man sitting in front of her. She didn't look at him and she didn't take another drink from her glass. She wanted a clear head, if only for a few more moments.
"With your mind..."
She looked up, squinting a little. It was kind of hard to comprehend.
"Like, mind control? Hypnosis, except with your own mind?"
She paused, suddenly a question was beating against her.
"Why can't you access my mind?"
Again, Ginny knew she should be afraid, but she wasn't.

"With my mind," he affirmed, sipping his whiskey again. Knowing he had probably said to much.
Slaughtering people with your mind is as good reason as any to freak people out a little, but hey.
"It's like..." Xaver reached out with his free hand and gently traced his fingers over her soft cheek, down her face. "It's like you're invisible to all of that... You were probably born with it. I'm not really sure. It's a good thing, though."
His hand dropped to grip the glass over his thigh, a smile tilting his lips. "What is your full name?"

Ginny smiled at his touch, closing her eyes as he touched her face. It was calming and gentle. So unlike the topic.
"Ginerva Aileen Sulai. My mom was on this old-school kick when she had me." Ginny laughed softly.
She missed her mom, and was very much like her. A little strange, but loads of fun.
"I don't know what ethnicity I am, or any of that. I lost that part of my identity long ago, when most of St. Luthor did."
When ethnicity became less important and species became way more important. She didn't say that, though.
"Speaking of ethnicities, if you are not human, are you a Wolf? A vamp? Something else?"

"Ginerva Aileen Sulai." Xaver repeated her name much as she had his own, tasting the words in his mouth and finding them sweet to the tongue. "I'm rather old-fashioned, myself." The corner of his mouth tipped skyward. "It is beautiful, Ginny. ..Much like the woman it adorns."
"I don't know what ethnicity I am, or any of that. I lost that part of my identity long ago, when most of St. Luthor did."
She didn't have to go on.. Xaver knew exactly what she meant. Twenty years ago he had stepped out into the world with many of his counterparts, and had spread his wings in the glory of finally being free. Twenty years ago was the beginning of a new stage of humanity and the beginning of one of the greatest race-wars the planet had ever know. That Xaver, in all his years, had known.
"I am something else," he said, very softly. His gaze met hers with a sudden ferocity. Her comments from the diner had not been forgotten, smiting the racist bastards, but centuries of patronizing lifted his heavily lashed blue orbs to hers and asked of her honesty. Of her objections to him. Xaver raised his glass, and downed its entirety once more.
"I am an angel, milady," he said, half-jokingly.
In a blurr he was standing and pushing the TV out of the way, tucking it against the wall beside the couch. He padded back to her, his heels barely ever touching the ground, his muscular body flexing and pulling as he toed over the carpets nearer. He bent at the waist, offering his hand in a very courtly, forgotten manner, other fist still around his empty glass.
"I am a Fallen." It was not safe for her to know any more of his titles than that. "Judge me?"
