"Judge me?"
Judgement? Ginny wasn't used to passing judgment upon those who had not wronged her. And, judge him for what? She wasn't even sure what a Fallen was.
Except, possibly, an angel? Wasn't that what he'd said.
Her eyes met his, and she looked at him for a long moment as he stood in front of her, bent and holding his hand out.
"Ok, I'll judge you." She said softly, taking his hand. She gave him a smile.

She took his hand and his large arm flexed, bringing her small form to his. Their arms crushed between their bodies, Xaver wrapped his free arm holding his drink around her slender +shoulders.
"My judgment is that you are possibly the only person who I've found to have a good heart in this God-forsaken city."
Xaver stilled, looking down into her eyes, his heart stalling in his chest.
"Is that right?" he murmured, low tones hinting at undiluted surprise. Xaver was, truly, surprised. Of all things for her to say, it was that he had a good heart... he didn't know if he'd ever heard that. "Are you so sure I even have a heart at all?"
His hand clasped around hers against the wall of his broad chest, Xaver felt the testament to his own statement beating quicker than usual. All of this was...unreal. Too good to be true. It had to be. While there had always been a gentle man beneath the exterior he so adeptly portrayed, not many souls had ever seen him. She made him want to spill his secrets and rake his hands through her glorious hair even on their second meeting. How could this possibly end well? Where could it go? He was either going to get them both into a ridiculous amount of trouble, or she was simply going to wind up dead. Every woman Xaver had ever gotten close to had met a similar fate, and he didn't want Ginny to follow that pattern.
"Aren't you supposed t0 be scared of men and monsters like me? I've broken and killed some in front of your pretty eyes, and yet you give me warm words and touches. Why?"

"I'm supposed to fear you because you killed men who wanted to kill you? Who might have wanted to kill me simply because I was with you?"
Ginny's face betrayed her confusion. She could feel his heart beating rapidly, she'd obviously surprised him.
"I don't understand you. I tell you that I'm not scared, and you ask my why not. Why should I be? Why do you push, do you want me to fear you?"
Ginny shook her head, her red hair spilling about as she did so. He was confusing, and strange. But not scary. He had yet to give her a reason to fear him.
"Besides. I killed someone today as well."
She pointed this out before he could respond, "Maybe it's you who should fear me."
She raised her eyebrows.
"After all, you know as much about me as I about you. You saw me stab someone in the throat and then shoot them. You can't see into my mind."
Ginny smiled. She was a good bit shorter than him, a good deal lighter, and very much smaller. To imagine she was a danger to him was funny to even think about. She raised her eyes to his, a calm look in her them. She could still feel his heart beating beneath their hands.
"You ask my why I do not fear you. I ask you, why should I?"

Her features portrayed the confusion he knew he was leading on, and a twinge of guilt ran through him.
"....do you want me to fear you?"
'Yes' was so close to slipping off his tongue. He needed her to fear him, hate him, for it would all be so much easier... but he couldn't bring himself to utter the words. His mouth couldn't complete what his heart didn't feel. The truth was.. he didn't want any of those things.
Dark eyes having trailed off to her shoulder, lifted then to Ginny burning with an honesty and vehemence dedicated wholly right then to only her.
"Besides. I killed someone today as well." He opened his mouth to respond, but she cut him off. "Maybe it's you who should fear me."
Xaver's gaze never left her.
"I do not fear you. I fear this. I do not know anything about this." He gently gripped her tiny hand within his own large one, bringing it closer to the left side of his chest. "I've been with women, but never a woman quite like you. I don't even know you.."
The 'but' at the end of his sentence was very softly whispered, fading off as the importance of it weighed in.
"You ask me why I do not fear you. I ask you, why should I?"
Xaver benevolently released her soft form, snagging the whiskey and refilling his glass.
"Bec-.." Xaver chopped his words short, catching her gaze as the turmoil within his own grew. "I will never hurt a hair on your head, this I give my promise and honor," his low, accent-lilted tones murmured to her. "Though I can't say much for else, for I have little knowledge of interacting and aplenty for bloodshed. I wouldn't have chance to hurt you if you hated me now rather than late, and those with a dime over my head wouldn't glance your way, either."
His smile was grim. "However... I hate to be the martyr. I want nothing else than to ravish you senselessly right now and bother the details later. My head simply likes you too much. Call me a stupid bird, if you will."
Xaver took a pull of his whiskey, not yet feeling the effects but surely welcoming them after having let his mouth run amok, his eyes never leaving her as the liquid poured smooth down into his empty belly.

Ginny let him finish, blushing slightly at the mention of ravishing her.But she raised an eyebrow, watching him as he drank his whiskey with what seemed like a need.
"Listen, if I were to ever hate you, it would be because of something you did. So if you don't do anything directly, I won't hate you."
She gave a short, angry bark of a laugh then, "Though, to be honest, I don't even hate Larus and look what he's done to me."
Ginny shook her head, eyeing him again. She liked watching him, the way his muscles moved with each movement, the way he looked at her.
"Why are you so worried? Life was meant to be lived, you know. So live it. There's nothing wrong with taking a leap of faith."

He would hurt her in the end, this Xaver knew. Watching her brow arch slightly and her soft mouth form gentle words, however, was enough for him at that moment to bend somewhere within. He didn't want Ginny to hate him. The fact that he cared, Xaver mused, had to mean something in itself anyway.
Her harsh laugh brought his gaze directly to hers, his blue orbs uncensored in their confusion. After all Larus had done, she didn't hate him? Even for what Xaver knew of the beast, he hated the man, and he knew there was much more to it.
"Why are you so worried? Life was meant to be lived, you know. So live it. There's nothing wrong with taking a leap of faith."
He was worried, because only twenty years ago there had been everything wrong with creatures like him living at all. She was a kind, honest woman and Xaver found that he quite adored her for that, but she was still very human and would always be. And the stirring in his soul at her presence was dangerous to be exploring with.
"Take it then. If there is nothing wrong with it, perhaps you should leap from that high tower, M'lady."

Ginny raised any eyebrow and raised her arms, gesturing the room.
"And this isn't a leap of faith?"
She shook her head, her pretty red hair, which he had freed, tumbled about her shoulders in waves, catching glimpses f the light in the apartment.
"It's not every day I invite men into my living room, allow them to strip down, and even let them kiss me."
Ginny eyed him closely. She felt safe, but what if this didn't turn out right in the end? What if he did hurt her, worse than Larus hurt her?
What about Larus?
He couldn't ever find out about this.
"I think I've taken a decent leap of faith, Xaver."

Xaver's grin was wholehearted and undiluted. Spreading across his handsome features like wildfire, he nodded acquiescence. He could only admit that she had taken quite a leap, if not a jump of grandeur off a skyscraper, this evening.
"Aye, I must agree that you have. I must also thank you for it, most sincerely."
Arm still draped around her shoulders, his gaze fell down into hers. Down, for he was quite a bit taller than she. She was eying him, he knew, and he could only fathom as to why. All of this... it had taken not only him by surprise, he would wager.
"In repayment should I take a leap of faith as well? From how high, do you think, for the oft faithless man at your disposal? Seeing as I could just fly away if the landing became to treacherous, mind you."
Xaver gave a wink and planted a small kiss upon her forehead before letting her go, placing his empty glass on the table.

Amused she let out a low laugh. How high did she want him to leap from? The closest cliff? The highest skyscrapper in the city?
"Well, Mr. Angel, leap from the clouds."
Her voice had dropped an octave, her eyes never leaving him. This morning had been confusing, this afternoon even more confusing. She needed a minute to think.
"Excuse me for a moment." She broke her eyes away from him and turned, heading down the hallway towards her room.

"Well, Mr. Angel, leap from the clouds."
In an urge that was as sudden as it was surprising to him, Xaver wanted to show her. His heart thundered with the sudden want to take her and show her he could do just that. Leap from the clouds, to the clouds, and dance within them. His shoulders itched with a restrained enthusiasm, his wings all but begging to be released.
She excused herself, stalling his reaction and revelation in one breath. He bowed slightly at her turn, a formal acknowledgment, remaining in the same spot until she had disappeared into her room.
Xaver blew out a breath, reaching a well-muscled arm back to rake his nails over the ridges of his shoulders. He ached to fly. It had been a long and confusing day, and the best therapy he knew was escaping into the skies.

Ginny shut the door, and went right to her bed, sitting on the edge and placing her head in her hands. Her emotions, her adrenaline, it had reached its peak and was too much suddenly.
What was she doing?
But God, she liked him.
He was nice. He was amazingly handsome, sexy. He was smart. Strong. He flipped a switch inside her when he was close, just the nearness of him making her senses twitch. She really liked him.
Ginny took a deep breath, calming herself. Suddenly, she was exhausted.
She stood, shaking her arms, trying to get them to feel less heavy. She grabbed a soft blanket from her bed, wrapping it around herself.
Ginny left her room, the blanket still around her shoulders as she trailed back into the living room where Xaver waited.
"Sorry about that."
It was like a sugar high. She had been so high moments ago from adrenaline, and now she was sleepy.

Her kiss was lingering as strongly on Xaver's lips as the whiskey, tantalizing and unforgiving. He breathed in a deep breath when she disappeared into her room, the breath of fresh air and reality at her absence strangely frustrating.
This was fucking crazy, and he loved it.
When the door that she had disappeared behind finally opened, and Xaver's gaze lifted from where it had fallen to the floor. Trailing to her, his dark blues reflected little but curiosity and impossible thoughts. Warmth, and solemnity.
"Sorry about that," she said as his gaze flickered over the soft looking blanket draped about her slender shoulders.
"No problem," he said softly. "Comfort sometimes comes in blankets and solitude.."
His small smile, while reserved, held no falsities.

Ginny gave him a smile.
"It's been a crazy day." She gave a little shrug, her body language giving out a 'but what can you do?' message. She smiled again, watching him closely.
"It's not your fault. I'm just a little dazed. It hit me all at once."
Ginny stood in front of him, the blanket wrapped around her and comforting her, the soft feel of it keeping her grounded. She still felt a little out of it, but not as much. This was real.

She looked entirely too pretty in her sweats, shrouded in a blanket that dwarfed her small form. Beneath her attentive stare he smiled slightly, his gaze trailing appreciatively up her form and meeting her eyes without apology.
"Quite how I felt upon seeing you for the first time, Milady. Though, perhaps mildly safer." He passed her a wink and slowly reached out to her, stepping close and resting his hands over her blanket clad upper arms. It was soft and warm beneath his touch, his thumbs rubbing over the palpable pattern. "I...don't know what this is, between you and I," he murmured quietly, "..but I-"
A knock at the door silenced him. The confession at the tip of his often overly silent tongue retreated into the confines of his chest, a sigh escaping in its place. After a day like today... what could it be, now?

"I...don't know what this is, between you and I," he murmured quietly, "..but I-"
There was a knock on her door and Ginny was a little startled. She wasn't expecting anyone, but she often had uninvited vistors due to Larus sending his croonies there to stay. She glanced at the door, considering what would happen if she didn't answer. She hadn't locked it behind her, and the person on the other side would most likely just walk in if they didn't get an answer.
She looked at Xaver, giving him a smile that belied her sudden nervousness. What if it was Larus?
"One moment," She called out to the door. Her eyes never left Xavers.
"Mind moving over so no one can see you from the hall way? I don't want to get in trouble." She knew he'd understand.
