Larus. The name stirred his belly a little in discomfort, dislike coursing through him with a suddenness that had Xaver take an inquisitive pause and examine his own reactions. He wasn't one to let himself take the issues of others with such a quick passion, but his instincts were well on their way to being almost protective over the little red-headed human before him. Larus was bad news, and he already churned with disgust for the man.
He nodded to the information, blue eyes finally flickering over to her. She wasn't looking back. Lips that were a little sticky with syrup tilted skyward into a smile, and he leaned foreword and pressed a kiss to her cheek.
"I guess if there is anything in this world I can thank that guy for, is that he brought you here so I could meet you."
Xaver's small grin was lit with a warmth that danced in the dark oceans of his eyes, the corners of them crinkling slightly.

He kissed her cheek and Ginny laughed at what he said.
She had a feeling if the two men ever met, it wouldn't be so one could thank the other.
If the two ever met...if Ginny continued down this road, the two would surely meet one day. She felt a small tinge. Even after all the hell Larus had put her through, she still felt like she was betraying him.
But by meeting Xaver's eyes, the guilt dissipated. Something about him.
So what about you? Tell me something about yourself.
Ginny had a slight feeling that such a question was usually asked before sex, not the morning after.

Xaver was quiet for a moment as he ate a few more bites and silently chewed his food. His manners were well defined even behind his casual air. Muscles of his near naked form rolled and flexed as he pushed his waffles across his plate and brought a few mushy piles into his mouth. His gaze flickered over her with a reserved curiousness and as he swallowed, met her eyes.
She didn't know anything about him outside of the small talk they'd shared and the bedroom, and perhaps it was better that way. If she didn't know the man within him, she couldn't hate him for who he was. Instinct told him this was the best option, but some part of him strongly objected.
"Well, what kind of something would you like to know?"

Ginny shrugged, her shoulders rolling in a noncommittal way.
"I dunno."
She thought about it as she munched on her waffles, tilting her head to the side. What did she want to know?
"What's your favorite color?"
Simple. She didn't need complicated, the situation itself was already complicated enough. Plus she didn't know how long this would last.
Best not to get too attached, on either side. She raised her eyes to his for just a moment, and realized not getting attached was going to be very, very hard.

Xaver blinked at the question. His favorite color?
"I would certainly say that this.." A smile slid across his handsome features, and he reached out with hand and tucked a lock of flame-colored hair behind her ear. "Is definitely my favorite color."
He withdrew his hand but the smile never parted from his lips as he took another bite of the amazing waffles.
"The smell of cucumber melon is my favorite scent, I prefer dogs over cats, though I harbor a kitten, and I am a huge fan of waffles."
His grin was wide, lighting his blue eyes though there was a confused start in his chest at the openness that was beginning to run amok out his mouth. Usually more than a very conservative, closed-off soul, it was so strange to be chatting whimsically about simple likes. It was fun, too, which was beyond comprehension.

Her face grew warm when he touched her hair. As a child she had hated how it made her stick out in crowds. Now she was rather proud of it.
She propped her chin up with on hand, watching him eat with a pleased smile. He seemed to enjoy the waffles.
"So, you obviously know about Larus."
She raised her eyes from his plate to his eyes.
"Is there anyone in your life?"

"Anyone as in someone significant?" Xaver shook his head. "No."
He pushed a chunk of waffle around his plate with his fork, soaking up as much sugary syrup as he could with the remaining piece before bringing it to his mouth. Chewing silently, he blinked in retrospect. There hadn't been a significant woman in a long time, actually.
"Do you deem Larus significant?"

"No."
Ginny couldn't explain the relief she felt when he said that. She rather enjoyed the idea of having him mostly to herself. She didn't, of course, ask about one-night stands like herself. She really didn't know if this would be one night or many nights.
"Do you deem Larus significant?"
She thought about it.
"Well, he is significant in the sense I wouldn't be here without him. I also wouldn't know how to hold a gun, and I wouldn't be able to live in this beautiful apartment." The last two were filled with sarcasm, as they were both things she could have lived without.
She paused, "I don't know. I'm so used to him, if he was to disappear I think some strange part of me would miss him."
She caught his look, one of slight annoyance and confusion.
"Well, he's not evil. He is capable of being nice. He's just an ego-maniacal jerk-off who seems to think the world revolves around him."

Xaver grimaced at her mentioning missing Larus. On any level, he didn't like the thought. Why he felt so strongly, he didn't know, but he was beginning to have an inkling. Fallen didn't feel or love like humans did - and, where he didn't believe that this relationship that was budding with Ginny was anywhere close to love, the protective, very active feelings in his chest were stirring enough to be significant. And possibly enough to be dangerous. The thought that he didn't like Larus simply because he was significant in Ginny's life didn't escape him. Time to back away.
"He's just?" A raven eyebrow arched, but he said no more on the subject. It wasn't really his business.
"What is your favorite color, Ginny?" The foreign lilt in his tones was back, the warmth directing the conversation away from Larus.

He changed the subject so abruptly that Ginny couldn't help it. She let out a very amused deep laugh, shaking her head. It was comical. But she gave into him.
"Okay, keep it simple. I can do that." Her eyes twinkled slightly. She had a feeling he didn't change the subject to simplify things.
"My favorite color is blue."
She paused and slide out of her chair and onto his lap sideways, crossing her bare ankles and surprising herself with her boldness. She brought her face close to his and smiled.
"Like the color of your eyes." Her arms wrapped around him and she gave him a soft kiss on the cheek.
"Did you enjoy breakfast?"

Xaver did not conceal the grin that fought to the surface, splitting his lips and tilting them skyward as she laughed. He did not deny her comment about keeping things simple, though neither could he deny the sudden change in pace his heart decided to strum as she rose and slid herself onto his lap.
He wrapped his arms around her, slipping beneath her shirt and drawing her closer to his bare chest. The smile that lit his eyes was neither false nor censored.
"I'm glad you like them, for they'll be directed your way most of the time."
Xaver grinned at the kiss on his cheek.
"They were perfect, thank you. My new favorite. You may just be begged and prodded to cook them more often."
He chuckled softly into the curve of her throat, kissing a trail up the side of her neck.

He kissed her neck and Ginny couldn;t help but giggle at the goosebumps that popped up on her skin.
"Givin' me shivers." She said, her voice low. She smiled at him, somehow very comfortable on his lap. Well, the morning after was not the time to be shy, she supposed.
She glanced up at the clock on the wall behind the stove. She had till about 5 before she had to leave, and she hoped he wasn't in any hurry to run out this morning. Of course, she didn't even know if he had a job.
"D'you have plans for today?"[/b
She gave him a little smirk, "If you hang out long enough, I'll make you lunch too."
Bribery. Unashamed bribery.

"Givin' me shivers."
Xaver grinned into her throat at the admission he could feel against his lips, pressing kisses across her goosefleshed neck up to the corner of her jaw and chuckling softly into her ear. He nuzzled his face into the soft tresses of her hair there and closed his eyes as if trying to lock in the feeling.
"Mmm. Not enough work that could keep me away from this."
He drew back slightly, kissing the tip of her nose.
"And nothing would keep me away from the mysterious prospect of lunch, so you have my worshiping soul and stomach until at least then, gorgeous."
His grin was decidedly boyish.

Ginny giggled softly, closing her eyes as he buried his face into her hair. His arms around her, the warmth between them. At first she'd been nervous about this feeling of comfort. She;d been anxious as her stomach had flipped and twisted.
Now she just wanted this moment to stand still, to last forever.
For once she felt truly cared for.
She wondered briefly if this was going to get any deeper.
He kissed the tip of her nose and she smiled softly. "Good."
Her fingers lightly tapped the back of his neck. "I was hoping we could get to know each other more."

"More, hmm?"
Xaver had flirted with the idea of the million questions he had wanted to ask her, but they had all died on his tongue. Ginny didn't even know what he was. And it was probably better that way.
An age-old way of thinking sure, but it would keep things just the way they were. Which is where he wanted them... mostly. He was at war within himself over a woman he barely even knew. It was confusing, to say the least, though it showed little in the small smile that lit his face, effectively hiding the turmoil within. Only his eyes and their dark blue opalescence churned with frustration as he mulled it over.
